Readers, the past few days I have been in Tokyo, helping out with the launch of a new social networking/e-commerce company. And I have met up with quite a few of my wonderful friends who live here in Tokyo, and THREE of them are pregnant!! Isn't it funny how it seems that those kind of things come in waves...all of a sudden it seems that everyone around me is getting ready to have a baby.:) And it is the same, it seems, in Hollywood as well.
Right now, one of the "hot actresses" in Hollywood is January Jones, who first got her big break in the hit television series "Mad Men". She is currently in the new "X-Men" film as well, and she has been busy running around promoting her new film. Well, she announced that she was pregnant a few weeks ago. But the only thing is...NO ONE has any clue as to WHO the father is! She is currently not married, and also not really dating anyone (that the public knows of). So who is the father???? Well, it seems that we might never get the answer to that question, because she has decided not to tell.
In other baby news, Pink just had her first child with hubby Cary Hart, and it is a GIRL! A big congratulations goes out to her. It seemed like she was pregnant FOREVER, but she was quite the cute pregnant mommy, always showing up at the beach in LA with her big "mama belly". The couple named their first child Willow Sage Hart. And only three days after their daughter was born, the happy couple was already seen at the beach in Malibu bringing their adorable baby to see the beautiful California beach!
In some totally different news, I have a wonderful update for all you Star Trek fans out there. It seems that there will be a Star-Trek themed attraction built in Jordan! a middle East entertainment company is currently teaming up with US media giants CBS and Paramount to develop a $1 BILLION theme part and resort called the Red Sea Astrarium, and this resort is scheduled to open in 2014. The Star Trek attraction will offer a "space-flight adventure" and "23rd century" themed entertainment...whatever THAT is supposed to mean! This is big news to Star Trek fans because it is InCREDIBLY hard to license anything under the Star Trek brand. They are extremely protective. As for the resort, it will have several 5-star hotels, theatres, restaurants, and shopping. And the builders of the resort are hoping to attract some of the 350 million residents in the Middle East. WOW, wouldn't you LOVE to go when they are finished building?
Now in summer movie news, the current hit film of the season seems to be the "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "The Hangover" sequels that are currently out in theaters, as well as the just released X-men sequel.
However, another summer film "Bridesmaids" has received much attention as well. Not only was it at the top of the box office when it was first released, but it also has made over $108.8 million so far. And NOW movie critics are saying that the success of "Bridesmaids" may be leading the way to a new kind of movie...the "r-rated women's comedy"!! Within a week of the film's opening, the studio was already making plans for the sequel, and now it seems that two other big movie studios are looking for films that have similar storylines to "bridesmaids". It will be interesting to see how the film does when it comes to Japan...
Personally, I went to see the movie and didn't like it at all. I thought it was a bit too "cliche" and wasn't really that well done. However there WERE definitely some funny moments in the film. And it seemed that everyone else in the theater LOVED the film because they were laughing the whole time!
The movie that I am currently very excited about is the new "X-men" film. I saw the trailer while I was in the movie theater a few weeks ago and it looks absolutely amazing. And from what I hear, it won't disappoint. What about you, readers? Which summer movie are YOU waiting for?
