Hi everyone!!! Are you getting ready for spring? it is RIGHT around the corner!!!:)I spent this past weekend working at the Academy Awards, and I am still trying to recover! This year I was the LA correspondent/red carpet reporter for WOWOW tv, as I mentioned before in my articles. And it was quite interesting getting a chance to be on the red carpet at the biggest event in Hollywood. This year our crew was located right next to E! Television and TV GUIDE, and I worked with the wonderful Japanese actor, Eijiro Ozaki. Eijiro san has been in the US for the past four years, working here in Hollywood. He was in the Clint Eastwood film "Flags of our Fathers", and most recently in the popular tv series "Heroes".
We had a great time interviewing various celebrities. Some of the interviews that we got were: Jennifer Lawrence, Hailee Steinfeld, Geoffrey Rush, Mark Rufallo, Kevin Spacey, Amy Adams, Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, Helena Bonham Carter, Oscar winners Christian Bale and Melissa Leo. We also had the opportunity to interview the amazing directors Tom Hooper (who won the Best Director award).
It was an incredibly exciting day, and I must say that everyone we interviewed was very kind and appreciative of Japanese movie fans. According to Tom Hooper, when we interviewed him, Japan is one of his favorite places in the world, and he can't wait to go back to visit! And Kevin Spacey did an interesting "rap" in Japanese when we first interviewed him. I have never seen anything like it! He is a crazy man! haha...
Actually I would have to say that two of my favorite interviews were with Christian Bale and Geoffrey Rush. Christian Bale was on the red carpet with his lovely wife Sibi. And the actor talked about how he felt very honored to be nominated among such wonderful fellow actors. And that he didn't really care that much about winning...he just wanted to enjoy the night.
Meanwhile Geoffrey Rush also came to our WOWOW booth with his lovely wife, and we got to talk to him about why the movie "The King's Speech" was doing so well all over the world. And he said that he believes that the movie is really about "finding your voice", and that people, no matter the religion, color can ALL relate to searching for "your voice". He then went on to tell us about how he has now finished the filming for the new Pirates of Caribbean film, and he said that he JUST saw some of the footage a few days before Oscar night, and "it looks fantasic! I believe fans will be very happy and surprised. There are quite a few new characters that have been added to the film that will make it even more interesting!". Personally I can't wait to see the new "Pirates" film with Geoffrey Rush in it. I think he will be a great addition to the movie franchise. Don't you?
Another interesting bit of gossip we got is from our interview with Michelle Williams, who talked a bit about her new role playing Marilyn Monroe on the big screen!! She told us that they were done filming and now they are starting to do the editing, etc.
Probably one of the WEIRDEST moments on the red carpet was with Sharon Stone. The actress was standing right in front of the E1 Television Booth, with host Ryan Seacrest, and they were waiting to go live on the red carpet special. After waiting for about 5 minutes, Sharon just stormed off, without saying a word to ANYONE! Her publicist went running after her, and the crew from E! were all stunned. And so were WE! She just left without any warning! I guess she didn't like the idea of having to wait around to do an interview and after a few minutes just left. So she decided to be a diva and just left.
Well, everyone, how did YOU like the Oscars? Were you impressed with the youthful hosts, Anne Hathaway and James Franco? I thought they did a pretty good job of hosting the show, even though there were many people who seemed to think that they were boring. However it seems that the ratings for Sunday's telecast were down by 9%, which isn't a very good sign. It will be interesting to see what the Academy does next year!
